Breath of Fresh Air

Breath of Air is a campaign to raise money to purchase and distribute air purifiers in communities on the frontlines of climate change and environmental racism. Air purifiers will be distributed to frontline families in East Palo Alto, the Belle Haven neighborhood of Menlo Park, and the unincorporated community of North Fair Oaks. Climate Resilient Communities will use its community organizational infrastructure and Climate Change Community Teams to connect with elderly households, families with young children, and those with preexisting conditions and provide a free air purifier as well as follow up with replacement filters.

Climate Resilient Communities is dedicated to uplifting the Peninsula’s underrepresented communities. CRC’s work stems from recognition of the fact that in the Bay Area, as throughout the world, under-resourced communities are disproportionately vulnerable to climate change impacts. Since 2016 Climate Resilient Communities has been on the ground learning the specific needs of residents in diverse, under-resourced communities in East Palo Alto and Belle Haven (Menlo Park).
